February 26

Make the Most High your dwelling. Let Yahweh be your refuge. Because you love Yahweh, he will rescue you. Because you acknowledge his name, he will protect you from the sFebruary 26econd death, the true enemy of our souls. Call upon him and he will answer. He will be with you in trouble. In the spiritual realm, that place where warriors fight great battles, you will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. Because you love Yahweh and make him your dwelling place, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. They will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. Your body and emotions may take a hit, but your soul will be safe if you make Yahweh your dwelling place.

February 25 Do not lose heart, child. We hold this great treasure of Yahweh in jars of clay. That is what we are, jars of clay, broken and holding nothing but darkness. But Yahweh said, “Let light shine out of darkness!” And he made his light shine in our hearts. In doing so he gave us the light of the knowledge of his glory in the face of Christ. We find this knowledge of light in the Sacred Writings. This light is the One we knew all along as Creator. Now this light fills all our dark places. That’s why we hold this treasure in jars of clay, to show that this all-surpassing power is from Yahweh and not from us. “We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.”

February 24 In this world, child, the enemy may press you hard and fast against a stone mountain, but Yahweh will not allow him to crush your spirit beyond repair. The enemy may confuse and bewilder you, but Yahweh will not allow him to drop your soul into a place of complete hopelessness. Yahweh will give you hope in the darkest of dark places, in the battlefield of the mind, where the enemy speaks lies that we believe. Listen for his voice there, in that dark place, as he gives instruction. Fill your mind with the Sacred Writings. Yahweh may allow us to undergo much persecution, but he will never abandon us. He will be with us in the secret place where no one can touch our souls. Yes, some of us will be struck down, but Yahweh will never allow us to be destroyed. He stands with open arms to receive us. Precious in his sight is the death of one of his servants. Yahweh. Yahweh. Yahweh. He is the lover of our souls.

February 23 Yes, child, in this world you will have trouble, but in the spiritual realm, the place where eternal battles are won, Yahweh covers you with his feathers. Spend time there, as you take refuge beneath his wings. Let his faithfulness, that remains even when we are faithless, be your shield and rampart. If you do this in the spiritual realm, then his peace will follow you back to this world, and you will not fear the terror of padding feet at night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at noon. These things may strike down this body but they cannot touch the soul, that part of us that flies on eagle’s wings. Let your soul find rest in Yahweh alone. He alone is your rock and your salvation. Trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him.

February 22

February 22 A day will come when we will look back and see that during those times when we were weak and our hearts were full of sorrow, that Yahweh carried us on eagle’s wings. If we would but rest in him we might know the supreme joy of such flight even in the midst of great trial. This is not the joy that bubbles up in laughter, but the joy that wells deep in our souls and brings a glimmer of hope. Hope is like faith, based on real evidence and sure as if the thing sought has already been realized.

This joy we can hang onto, this hope, this faith, because the One who gives it is our Savior, Yahweh, Jesus. He is the Creator who has given us all good things as well as a hope and a future, an eternity free of sorrow and pain. In this world we will have trouble, but take heart, he has overcome the world.

February 21 Does the way still seem dark, child? Perhaps it is even more frightening than before. It is hard to see now, but there is still a future and a hope. It will come to you in good time, though it does not seem like it now. Yahweh will anoint you with the oil of joy instead of mourning. He will save you from the fowler’s snare

I know the beast of sorrow seems enormous and overpowering, but the beast has already been defeated. Already your Redeemer is on his way. Still it is okay to weep, to mourn for your loss. Jesus, too, wept and he still grieves over the loss of his children. You are his beloved child. He will not let you go. There is no dark place, no deep shadow that is so dark that Yahweh’s light cannot fill it.

February 20

february 20 Sometimes the way before us grows so dark that sorrow falls like fog. Darkness slips over our path and evil slinks through the forest. We can smell its foul odor and hear padding feet. Then doubt fills the hollow places in our souls. In these times, Yahweh seems far away, but he is not.

In these times it is important to cry out to him, even if all you can muster is a sigh. Direct your sigh at him, he will hear. For he is the One the Sacred Writings speak of when they say, “The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.

Many of us who continue to walk the Sorrow Way are poor in spirit and in great need of this good news. The news that he has come to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for prisoners. Often we are such prisoners of darkness that we fail to see when the fog begins to lift. But lift it will, dear child, if you wait upon Yahweh. He will bind your broken heart and renew your strength. You need do no more than this, simply wait, simply sigh. Yahweh. Yahweh. Yahweh.

February 19

February 19 We are tribal people are we not? Yes. There is a time for solitude, a time for vision quest, a time for healing. But there is also a time to join with our people to encourage and strengthen. We are to encourage with the encouragement that we have been given; to comfort with the comfort we’ve been given. We do not need to wait until we are elders to share this blessing. Yahweh’s blessings come from the first moment that our hearts sing out to him.

Do you know someone who has just come to their senses as we talked about on February 16 in the story of the two sons? We once came to our senses, now it is time to help someone else as the Holy Spirit brings them to their senses, but be careful child, do not return to the way of temptation. Stay away from whatever road will take you there.

Perhaps a fishing trip, a horse ride, or a walk up the Sacred Mountain. Perhaps beading regalia, painting a drum, or singing over a drum. Take the Sacred Scripture with you. Hide it in your heart. Let it fall like rain from the heavens. You will discover that you are blessed and comforted and encouraged as much and more as the one you are lifting up to Yahweh.

February 18

February 18 Yesterday, I mentioned that sometimes Yahweh’s help comes in the strangest forms. My first help came in a way I least expected. Yahweh tells a story of this kind of help where a man was robbed and left to die along the side of the road. All the people you would expect to help passed him by, but the last person in the world you would have thought would help, not only stopped, but lifted the broken man to his own donkey and walked him to a safe place. There he paid for his lodging and meals until the broken man was able to get on his feet again.

My first help came when I was ready to end it all, through a stepfather I had hated with everything in me. He not only got in his truck and drove many long miles to get me, but he did so with one leg, since he had been very recently released from the hospital. Don’t be surprised, child, if your help comes from such an unexpected place. Bask in the peace that only Yahweh can give. Receive the healing that reaches past skin and bones!

February 17

February 17 Yahweh tells another story of a young man who is broken and paralyzed and how four of his friends decided they would take him to Jesus. But the crowd was so great and dense that they couldn’t even get through the door to the place where Jesus was talking. That’s how I felt when I walked day after day below the Sacred Mountain. It seemed the crowd of liars in my mind was too great and I could not break through.

In Yahweh’s story, these four brave men lifted their paralyzed brother up, stretcher and all, and broke through the thatched roof. Then they lowered him down to Jesus. That’s what happened to me. Yahweh sent a brave sister and her friend who carried me to Jesus. Through their help, I was able to stand and walk slowly into the way of faithfulness.

You may be a brave warrior or highly respected council member, but don’t let pride get in the way. There is a time to admit your brokenness and accept help, but take caution, child, accept only the help that comes through Yahweh. Sometimes it comes in the strangest forms.
