February 6

February 6 In 2009 the VA called and just so matter of fact over a phone simply said, “You have Hodgkin’s.” I can’t explain the shock. But after a million things ran through my head, I began to tell my wife that we can get through this. We have our Lord and He’s a healing Father. So what do we do? We take it to prayer. What loss have you experienced? Take it to Yahweh. He cares. Yahweh is bigger! Yahweh is beyond!

February 5

February 5 What pain are you in, dear child? Death and illness and the loss of dreams have a way of halting a human’s purpose. It’s easy to wonder for what purpose have we been set here in this time and place. Is there a reason beyond our own understanding? Suffering reminds us that time is short, that what we hold dear will soon be gone. Yet, even when our hearts fail us we can still soar on eagle wings, for few can walk with a haughty step when sorrow bends the shoulders. Yahweh has a reason beyond our own understanding, and He promises peace beyond as well. Take it to prayer. Take it to Yahweh. He knows. He understands…even when we do not.

February 4

February 4 My heart jumps at the realization that my Chief and Captain is my life and light. No darkness can hide his light; no walls are strong enough to keep him away, even when I hear the echo of the evil one’s footsteps through the dark night. The Sacred Scriptures give me strength where once I was weak. Wisdom from my own people weaves itself through the words.

There was a time our people walked in the true way, the way of walking in beauty, the way of Creator, Yahweh. Long before white people brought fences and walls to this land. This is the true strength of the warrior, not with shield and sword, but with a heart bursting with strong medicine and filled with the Spirit of Yahweh. With this assurance you can feel Yahweh’s presence in any and all dark places, the places that are able to rob you of your soul if you allow it. The choice is yours—walk in beauty—or walk in darkness.

February 3

February 3 Dear children, this is how we know we are still walking the way of beauty, that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in Yahweh’s presence: If our hearts condemn us, we know that Yahweh is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.

Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before Yahweh and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him. And his command is simple: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. The one who continues on the way of beauty and keeps Yahweh’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us. Yahweh. Yahweh. Yahweh. Holy is his name!

February 2 Stay strong! Continue in faith and keep walking in the Spirit Way. I am writing to you, dear children, because your wrongdoing has been forgiven on account of his name. I am writing to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young warriors, because you have overcome the evil one.

Stay strong! Yahweh is the One of whom the disciples said, “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of Life. The Life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal Life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete.” Stay strong, dear children, and continue walking in the Spirit Way.

February 1

February 1 Choosing to walk in beauty means that you can dance, without feathers or music, in a cell with hard stone for a floor, or completely in the recesses of your mind. You can dance your prayers to Yahweh, Creator, knowing he accepts them for what they are—a true offering of praise and love for the One who has given you life. Even when your old or weak legs no longer work, you can close your eyes and dance. Listen to Yahweh’s drum beat as stone walls fall away and you are transported through a vision to open fields where you dance with all your might. Let the smell of ripe grain and sweet tobacco wrap itself around you, replacing despair with hope and strengthening your body with courage.

When at last you close your eyes and lay on your bed, your thoughts will turn to wonder. If you had never tasted such bitterness; if you had never fallen into the deep pit, you may have missed the sweetness of a soul set free. Now you are ready for whatever battle waits ahead. Ultimately that battle is in Yahweh’s hands, and he is forever faithful. Let such knowledge carry your heart into peaceful rest.

January 31

January 31 water The choice is yours—walk in beauty—or walk in darkness. Yahweh, the true light that gives light to everyone, has come into our world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who do receive him, to those of us who believe in the name of Jesus Christ, he gives the right to become children of Yahweh—children born not of natural descent, nor of a human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

I am writing to you, dear children, because you know the Father. I write to you, fathers, because you know him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young warriors, because you are strong, and the Word of Yahweh lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one. Take heart! And continue in the way of beauty.

January 30

January 30 In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with Yahweh. And the Word was Yahweh. He was with Yahweh in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. This Yahweh is the One our people have long known as Creator. But now we can know him, not only as Creator of all things that we see and do not see, but also as the One who creates new life within our own souls. Now we can know him, not only as The Great Spirit, who is out there somewhere, far beyond us, or someone we meet on the Sacred Mountain of vision quests, but also as The Spirit in whom we live and move and have our being.

Now we can know him, not only as The Spirit who indwells all things, but also as The Holy Spirit who dwells right inside of us. He is the great I Am. He rings out through time, through eternity, through past and future, forever. “I Am”—The Great Spirit, Creator, of whom our forefathers caught a glimpse. “I Am” Creator. Messiah. Redeemer.

January 29

January 29 This is the message of walking in beauty, of walking the Spirit Way. Yahweh is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet continue to walk in darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we can share the pipe and have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all wrong doing. If we claim we have never walked the way of darkness and say we have done no wrong, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our weaknesses and wrong doings, then He is faithful and just and will forgive us our way of error and purify us from all unrighteousness.

My dear children, this is what the white people call sin. We call it walking in darkness. Do not walk in darkness. But if anybody does walk in darkness, and at times we all will, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole Tribe and world.

January 28 Here is a good way to walk in beauty. Awake every morning fully aware of Yahweh’s unfailing love. Close your eyes in sleep with his sweet name trembling from your lips. Walk all your paths placing your feet in his steps. Sing for joy and be glad all your days. …Eagle People … Today’s reading is Psalm 9:1-10. Pleya gi. “Go with Blessings.”
