January 11 water Sometimes it is hard for this old man to keep one moccasin moving in front of the other. It is then I call out to Creator Yahweh to shed new light on his path that I may follow it to the very end. It is my heart that fails me, not in a physical sense, but in the spiritual realm. My heart deceives me and tells me I am foolish to think this old Indian will complete the task his Great Chief and Captain has given him.

In times like these, I press in close to Creator Yahweh and let the words of his Sacred Writings encourage my heart toward the goal.

Yes. My heart is deceitful above all things. But Creator Yahweh is greater than my heart, and he knows everything! He will bring me to the land of the living, a place of incredible beauty! I close my eyes and dance now, in the spiritual realm where this tired old Indian receives strength.

January 10 water In the morning let Creator Yahweh hear your voice warriors. As the morning stars sing together, wait expectantly before him. As sunlight spills over the eastern sky, bow before his presence. Lay your requests before him. Take refuge in him and he will spread his protection over you. He will surround you with favor as with a shield.

Sing for joy and be glad! No matter where the path leads today, he will make it straight before you. Do not listen to the voice of your enemies. Not one word from their mouths can be trusted. Their hearts are filled with malice and their throat is an open grave. With their tongues they lie to you.

Take refuge in Creator Yahweh. He will spread his protection over you. Yahweh. Yahweh. Yahweh. Love his name and rejoice in him!

January 9 water Warriors, have you come to the waters, deep and wide, that will not let you cross? Take heart! Creator Yahweh will part the waters at the perfect time. Do not rush ahead or try to go around. This is a time of resting.

Creator Yahweh will remove the obstacle when it is time for you to move again. He may part the waters so that you will walk across on dry ground. Or he may bring a companion with a boat that will carry you safely across. Or he may lift you up on eagle wings and fly you across in an instant.

The way is already known to our Great Chief and Captain. These dark waters are not a surprise to him. Rest in his unfailing love.

January 8 water small Warriors, are you discouraged and weary? Does the act of scaling the utmost height seem far out of your grasp? Consider this old man who keeps one moccasin plodding in front of the other. This journey, though now it seems impossibly long, is much shorter than we first thought.

Look for glimpses of Creator Yahweh’s beauty along the way, feel his warm breath caress your face. He is still there, beside you, even when sorrows fall heavy on your shoulders and weariness crushes your heart. He is there in the unexpected places and in unexpected hours. Be still, and let his comfort encourage and strengthen you.

This trouble will pass, warrior, stand firm.

January 7 water It is good, warriors, to speak of the good things Creator Yahweh has done for us. Speak of them as the morning sun spills its light over you. Talk of them in your going out through the city gates and places of meeting. Remember them when you use the skill Creator Yahweh has given you. Willingly share with all who will listen.

Creator Yahweh is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. He hears all who cry out to him. Remember the good things he has done when you come into your house at night. Sing of them over the evening meal and write them upon the tablets of your children’s hearts.

Speak always of the wonders of our Great Chief and Captain’s love.

January 6 water small Warriors, have you forgotten the good things Creator Yahweh has done for you? If I forget Creator Yahweh, there will no more be life in these tired bones. If I forget Yahweh, my right hand will forget its skill with bow and arrow, my tongue will cleave to the roof of my mouth, my feet will nevermore dance in prayer.

Without Creator Yahweh, we have no light for the path; the way will remain dark and treacherous. Without Creator Yahweh the morning stars have no song. Without Creator Yahweh we are like a mule or horse that has no understanding but must be led with bit and bridle.

The breath of Creator Yahweh is the wind that frees us to soar on eagle wings. Pray always that we will never forget Creator Yahweh and the good things he has done for us. May we always trust in Creator Yahweh’s unfailing love!

January 4 water small We have never been this way before. But Creator, Yahweh, has. This untraveled ground is unknown to us, but not to our Great Chief and Captain. He knows the dark places that steal our courage, he knows the high places that threaten to undo us, and he knows the hot stretches that rob us of breath, because he has been this way before.

It is crucial for us to never lose the sound of his voice. His voice spoke the world into existence and called us each by name, his secret name for us. His voice still speaks to our hearts when we lie on our beds at night. His thunder warns of danger, his morning song encourages us for the journey, and his night whisper helps us rest and speaks truth to our hearts.

No, we have never been this way before, but our guide is the very one who created the path. If we listen carefully, we will continue on the blessing way, even when the way is dark and sorrow crushes our souls. May we never lose the sound of Creator Yahweh’s voice.

January 3 Are the relentless wolves of doubt and fear howling around you? Remember, warriors, Creator Yahweh has been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or he brought for the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting he alone is our Great Chief and Captain. Hide yourself in him.

Today, take time to mediate on all his works; consider the works of his hands. His works are wonderful, you know that full well. He has searched you and He knows you. He knows your coming out and your lying down. He is familiar with all your ways. At just the right time, he will silence the howl of your enemies and destroy all your foes. May we always trust in the safety of his protection.

January 2 water small Are you walking the sorrow way? Then know that Creator Yahweh walks beside you and knows you better than you know yourself. Trust your soul to his faithfulness. When he created the earth, when all the morning stars shouted for joy, he knew you, he called you by name. Knowing all the sorrow you would go through, knowing all the pain, knowing every mistake you would ever make; he still called you to be his child.

He is faithful, even when we are unfaithful, because he cannot disown himself. “In this world you will have trouble,” he said so himself, but he promises to walk with us along the sorrow way. He has walked there alone before us and now, though the enemy means to use this sorrow for our harm, Creator Yahweh uses it for our good. Soon, you will see that the sorrow way often intermingles with the blessing way.
