A wise man, John Henry Jowett, once wrote, “Evil never surrenders its grasp without a tremendous fight.” This is something we spiritual warriors should never forget. The warriors of old knew this. They were not arrogant in their interpretation of the Sacred Writings. They knew blood would be shed, dreams forsaken, and heights left unclaimed. Jowett went on to write, “Satan is not put to flight by our courteous request. He completely blocks our way, and our progress must be recorded in blood and tears.”
Our people know much about blood and tears, as every true believer in Creator Yahweh must know. Most of us took our first breaths in this world under the protection of clean and protected surroundings. Not so when we are born of Spirit. Spirit knows no walls. Being born of Spirit means open skies where we “draw our strength from the distress of the storm.” Buffeting winds and howling wolves welcome us to a dangerous world. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God.”
